Article Marketing For Profits – Make Money With Article Marketing

Guest Post by Paul There are many ways that you can earn money online – some more lucrative than others. For instance, an author can look on Elance.com and find people who are offering short term contracts in return for articles or copywriting. The problem with this method of earning money is that you won’t ever get rich doing it unless you are really a talented individual and have a name that is in demand. 99% of authors on Elance.com expect to get paid a flat rate for an article which is fine in that they get their cheques to pay the bills but not fine if they want to have an internet marketing lifestyle. That’s why I like article marketing. With article marketing you can use your writing skills to direct traffic to your web site, promote other people’s products (or your own if you have one!) and make a profit. The upside of this approach is that once you find a winning strategy then your return on investment (ie. The time spent to write the article) is far greater than writing on a per contract basis. What’s more, you can actually earn money without working. In other words, article marketing can help your income grow on auto-pilot. How Does It Work? As an author it is your job to get your content in front of the right target audience. There are many ways of doing this. You can submit your articles to article directories, you can write press releases or you can even do “guest posting”. Guest posting is a particularly powerful method because you can put your articles in front of a large number of people and such great exposure can bring incredible traffic. Publishers are happy to post your guest articles as long as they contain quality information that will benefit the readers. In return they will let you have a link back to your web site or, in some instances, a link to the sales page of the affiliate product that you are promoting. How To Write An Article The most important thing to realize when writing an article is that the body of the article must add value to the reader. If the body doesn’t add value and comes across as a sales pitch then this will drastically hinder your chances of getting published and, if it does get published, of making any sales. Your Resource Box Probably the most important part of any article is something known as an article resource box. This always comes at the end of your article and is where you are allowed to make a one or two line pitch of your web site. Many people really struggle to write a good resource box, but it is oh so important. You need to make sure that your resource box is benefit driven, blind (for curiosity), has a strong call to action (ie. “click here now”) and is highly targeted to the audience in mind. You should really be aiming at a click through rate of around 20%. What’s The Earning Potential? I’ve heard many of my fellow internet marketers claim that there isn’t any money in article marketing. Unfortunately, they are just doing it wrong because there is plenty of money to be made – in fact my full-time income is a result of article marketing alone. At this point, I don’t focus on any other type of traffic generation – that’s how powerful it is. When does STARTF_USESHOWWINDOW override the parameter passed to ShowWindow()?

kokorozashi wants to know what the rules are which govern when the second parameter to ShowWindow is overridden by the STARTF_USESHOWWINDOW flag . The guiding principle is that the parameter is ignored if the window manager thinks that the window you’re creating is the application’s main window. The details behind the implementation of this principle change over time, so everything from here down is implementation detail and should not be relied upon . I’m providing it merely to satisfy your curiosity. To reiterate, do not rely on information in the second half of this article because it can and will change . In fact, just to emphasize the point, I’m going to give the rules as they once were , not as they are today. So anybody who relies on this information is relying on implementation details of Windows which are no longer true. The window manager heuristics for determining whether the second parameter to ShowWindow should be overridden were once as follows: Rule zero: If the override has already been used, then don’t use it again. Rule one: The easy case. If the second parameter was SW_SHOWDEFAULT , then the application was explicitly permitting the second parameter to ShowWindow to be overridden by the STARTF_USESHOWWINDOW flag, so let it happen. Rule two: Check the following properties. The STARTF_USESHOWWINDOW flag was set. The window was top-level. The window was not owned. The window had the WS_CAPTION style. The window was not system-modal. The second parameter to ShowWindow was SW_SHOWNORMAL or SW_SHOW . Let’s look at these heuristics one at a time. First, the STARTF_USESHOWWINDOW flag needed to be set: If it wasn’t, then there wasn’t anything to override with . Next, the window needed to be top-level (not a child window). Because a child window clearly is not the application’s main window. The window also must not have been owned. An owned window is not the main window (the owner would be a much better candidate), and besides, it would be bad to have minimized or hidden an owned window, since that would have left the owner sitting around for apparently no reason. Even worse if the window being created was intended to be modal to the owner: You would have had a disabled window on the screen, and the window you needed to close in order to get that window enabled again was hidden! Another rule was that the window had to have a caption. This made it less likely that splash screens and other incidental windows would be misdetected as the application’s main window. System-modal windows were also excluded, because you didn’t want system-critical error messages to be mistaken for the application’s main window. (Especially if the action was SW_HIDE !) The second parameter to ShowWindow had to be one of the special values SW_SHOW or SW_SHOWNORMAL . These values were most likely to be passed by applications which were not particular about how the window was shown. They would be comparatively unlikely to be upset that their attempt to show the window was overridden. Once a window was identified as a likely main window (either by explicitly saying so via SW_SHOWDEFAULT or implicitly via the heuristics), the second parameter to ShowWindow was ignored and replaced with the value specified by STARTF_USESHOWWINDOW . There was some other fiddling that happened, but they aren’t really important to the topic at hand, so I’ll ignore them. Again, I reiterate that this information is provided merely to satisfy your curiosity and must not be relied upon by applications, since the heuristics may be tweaked in future versions of Windows. If you want the STARTF_USESHOWWINDOW flag to have an effect on your program, just pass SW_SHOWDEFAULT to ShowWindow . That’s the value that says, “No really, I’m asking for it. Lemme have it.”

Writing for Money – Winning Examples from Wikinut

Guest Post by Andy Walton If you’re reading this post there’s a decent chance you’re interested in making more money from your online writing. Whether you have your own blog or post on revenue sharing sites, the key is to maximise the return from each article published. So here are my the top 5 tips for optimising your copy, drawn from my experience of the best pages on Wikinut. Grab your reader ———————————— Each page you write should begin with an eye-catching headline – this starts the ball rolling. Make it interesting, give it an angle. A recent Wikinut example – “The Healthy Computer Geek’s Diet” – short, snappy and contains keywords; it also brings together health and geeks, a clever niche. But don’t stop there… make sure you follow it up with a great first paragraph. This is your first chance to introduce a cliff hanger, a teasing line that will leave your reader wanting more. Let’s face it, if your readers are already getting bored something is badly wrong. Be positive ———————————— Here’s something I’ve noticed – authors that are upbeat tend to get better responses. This is a hard factor to quantify and measure, so you’ll just have to take my word for it. Whether you’re looking for advert clicks or sign-ups, putting your reader in a positive mindset seems to illicit results even if your article isn’t directly asking them to respond. A top page in our jobs section about writing a great CV ended with – “Good luck and stay positive. Eventually you will find that great job – just keep working at it.” If you think about it, when was the last time you saw a salesperson using a negative, unenthusiastic approach? Give your reasons ———————————— This may sound obvious but if you are attempting to directly influence somebody into acting on your words, make sure you give them a damn good reason. It’s sometimes easy to lose focus on this as you struggle to compose your piece. People make decisions on the information they have to hand, and it’s your job as the author to educate them. This opening line from a page about starting an eBay business gives the reader reasons immediately – “Have you ever thought about running your own auction business? Like the freedom and flexibility that working for yourself offers?” Show them the happy place ———————————– This is a classic technique and one that is worth remembering. Try to paint a picture in your reader’s mind of them enjoying the product, or whatever it is you’re offering. Take them beyond the act of response, which is often the biggest hurdle and help them imagine the benefits. For example, a Wikinut page about hosting the perfect dinner party ended with the following line – “You are now (hopefully) the host(ess) with the most(ess). Bask in the praise. Go on, soak it up. You deserve it. Cheers!” The reader cannot help but get enthused by this paragraph, and it’s a great example of the approach. Call to action ———————————– Finally, you should include at least 1 direct call to action in your piece, by which I mean an instruction to your reader. In fact, you can go even further and demand or even order your audience to respond! If you have successfully achieved the first 4 steps above, you should have them in the palm of your hand… Author Bio: Andy Walton is inviting you to use Wikinut , a new publishing platform that pays lifetime royalties for your writing on a massive range of topics. Affiliate Marketing – Unlimited Earning Potential

Guest Post by Paul How do you fancy earning money online without having your own product? Or even having your own web site? Allow me to introduce you to affiliate marketing. It’s one of the more popular ways of making money online is how I have managed to make a full time income online over just the last 8 weeks. The really great thing about affiliate marketing is that once you get everything in place, it runs automatically. Essentially, you can potentially earn money whilst you’re on holiday – it’s an auto pilot system. That’s what attracted me to this industry. What’s even more attractive is the earning potential. There are more millionaire affiliate marketers than any other sector online – you can’t say you’re not intrigued now, can you! But how does it work? Well, you are an online salesman. It all comes down to this: You find people with a problem and you solve their problems by introducing them to a product. If somebody lands on a sales page having clicked one of your hyperlinks and then buys the product, you are entitled to a commission. I know what you’re thinking – how do I get people to click on my link? Well, that’s the skill involved. You have to find hungry markets of people and somehow put your articles or advertisements in front of them. There are a huge variety of ways of doing this. One of my favorite ways is called article marketing – largely because it’s the easiest! As an article marketer you write for audiences of people, find places to distribute your article, recommend products and make sales. Here’s The Clever Bit Though… A lot of people fail at affiliate marketing. Want to know why? They don’t understand their target audience. It’s as simple as that. Let me give you an example. If you’re the best looking guy in the world, with bucket loads of personality and a huge wallet full of cash, do you think you’d be able to attract a girl? OK, what about if you hang out in a gay bar? You catch my drift? You can have the best product and sales pitch in the world but if you don’t advertise to the right crowd of people then you’ll never make any money! So How Do You Get To Know Your Target Market? You hang out where they do…I’m talking about forums. Forums are the greatest weapon in an internet marketer’s arsenal. It’s one place where you can really understand that mindset of your target market. What concerns are they having? What makes them tick? What problems are they trying to solve. Where Can You Find Products To Promote? Personally, I like selling digital products because the profit margin is so great. For instance, if I lead someone to buy a $37 e-book, then I can expect to take home over $20. $29 for one quick sale! You can clearly see how this adds up over time. The best digital product retailer is called Clickbank. They have a plethora of products in all sorts of niches that you can sell – just have a look in the marketplace and find one that takes your fancy. Affiliate Marketing Is Not Easy… This is not a get rich quick scheme that many people are trying to tell you. It’s a skill that needs to be learned just like playing golf or a musical instrument. But let me assure you, when you learn the skill, you’re set for a life of financial freedom. Resource Box: There are five shortcuts to affiliate marketing success that 95% of people miss out. To find out what they are and to triple your affiliate marketing revenue then don’t miss what I have here: http://www.amshortcuts.com .

How to Write a Blog Post in 30 Minutes

Guest Post by Andy Walton Writing content for the web can be enjoyable, satisfying, fun and hopefully profitable but it can also be hard work at times. Every writer experiences those occasions when their output slows to a crawl, and the finish line seems to drift further into the distance. I’ve been there a few times, so here are my tips on how to beat the block and produce a new, quality post in less than half an hour – and to prove my point, I’ll write this in 30 minutes. Get into a Positive Mindset ———————————– OK, first up is your attitude. If you have a defeatist approach, you’ll likely be defeated. Look at the facts – you’re only trying to write 500 words, not a novel. It doesn’t seem that intimidating now does it? And remember – in less than 30 minutes you’ll have a piece of work that can start earning you money. So be positive, and get thinking. Pick a Subject ———————————– Next part is perhaps the one you consider the hardest – the topic. It’s always easiest to write about what you know, especially if you want to write quickly. Research and fact checking can take time, so you’re best sticking to opinions or advice. By the way, I’ve taken 10 minutes to get to this point. Sketch out Your Headings ———————————– This is the bit I find the most constructive, as it allows you to see a mental path to the finish. By listing 3 or four headings, you’ll be halfway towards a completed post as you can expand on each one for a paragraph or two. Add the Flesh to the Bones ———————————– Now go back through each section and think about why you wrote that header. What point were you trying to communicate, and can you express it concisely to your reader? After all, they probably want to read as quickly as possible so be brief and succinct. Check and Correct ———————————– Finally once you have your finished draft, read through it. Assuming your post is around 500 words this should only take the last 5 minutes or so. You’re checking for the obvious spelling and grammatical errors (which your spell checker should help with), but also for any problems with the flow of the text. At this point you also want to try to make the article as user friendly as possible, so you could perhaps add some bold and italic highlights to help your readers to scan. And at that point, you’re done! And so am I, 444 words in 28 minutes from start to finish. I thank you. Use Google for Writing Inspiration, not just Traffic

Guest Post by Andy Walton For those of us who blog for profit, Google is the god of traffic. Such is their share of global search you simply cannot ignore their impact on your reader base. However, have you ever considered how Google can help improve your writing itself? If not, read on and I’ll give you some great new creative tips. Quick keyword ideas ———————————— Here’s a quick first tip. When you’ve chosen your topic and have written your fist draft, you should spend a few minutes to ensure you have scattered all relevant keywords throughout your page. And where to get the key phrases to use? The search box on http://www.google.com/ of course. You’ve probably noticed the search suggestion drop down that appears as you type your search on the Google homepage. This is designed to predict the user input, and so by definition is offering a list of the most commonly entered terms that match your initial letters. It’s therefore a great way of borrowing your readers’ search terms. Let’s take an example – I’ll enter the phrase “writing blogs”. The drop down then offers me: 1. writing blogs for money 2. writing blogs tips 3. writing blogs online 4. writing blogspot 5. writing blogs for pay These are listed in descending order of popularity, and so the higher up the list the more searches that term receives. So try to incorporate any phrases that are relevant for your article – remember to think of your reader though, so don’t just stuff words into your page for the sake of it. Have a go, and you’ll see how easy it is to play around with different words and phrases to get ideas for keywords. You can even use this process for getting new angles on topics about which you’ve already written. Write about the moment ———————————— If you can’t even think of a theme for your page, you could try using Google Trends ( www.google.com/trends ). This is a page where Google show you the hot search terms and topics about which their users want to read. Writing about the day’s big issues is a great way to get readers, interest and comments. Think Twitter, but with more words. As I write this article, I can see the Kraft takeover of Cadbury is big in the business world, the Australian Open tennis has sports fans excited and searchers want more info about storms in California. You can drill down into more search terms, or enter some of your own ideas to see how popular they are. You’ll notice the variety of subject matter is very varied so there will generally be something that catches your eye. So the next time you’re sat in front of your screen feeling the onset of writers block, head over to Google and let them do the brainstorming for you. Writing Guest Content – What, How and Why?

Guest Post by Andy Walton Last week, I wrote a guest post for this blog Money Maker Info about my site www.wikinut.com and the guest post was published to this blog audience. Writing content for other people has obvious benefits for them, but what are the upsides for you? So just one week on, I thought it would be interesting to assess what I gained from the exercise. What to write? ————————– This is perhaps the easy bit, so I’ll just offer 3 suggestions here: 1) Be original. By this I don’t mean some new work of genius, I simply mean don’t just cut and paste from another author. It shows little respect for site owners if you try to pass some obviously copied work off as your own. 2) Target your writing. Spend a little time browsing the site to which you are submitting. Get a flavour for the type of content they publish, the topics and styles. Try to tailor your copy to suit the site. 3) Write what you know. Stick to subjects about which you feel knowledgeable and comfortable. This will make the piece easier and quicker to write, and should make your post more readable. How to submit your post? ————————– Find a contact address on the site, and if possible try to write a personal email to the owner or editor. Explain the background to your post, what you are offering (free use to publish and modify) and what you expect in return (an author credit, a bio, a link to you site, etc). Why should you bother? ————————– OK, this is the interesting bit. There are quite a few motives for offering content – ego, self-promotion – but mine was to raise the profile of my new site. Therefore, I wrote a page about how Money Maker Info blog readers could earn money writing content for Wikinut. Primarily I was looking for exposure. So 7 days later, did I get any? Here are the stats: 1) A search on Google for the (unique) first sentence of my post returns 173 results. 2) This results are spread across dozens of different sites. 3) A Twitter search returns over 20 tweets directly referencing my article – never mind related tweets 4) And without giving away too much, the Make Money Online blog directly sent hundreds of motivated visitors – many of who signed up. This demonstrates the power of the web – a single post can rapidly spread across the internet via a variety of methods and mediums. Remember, these results are just 7 days old. So why not think about guest writing yourself? Author Bio: Andy Walton, co-founder of Wikinut , has over a 10 years experience working for some of the UK’s biggest ecommerce businesses.
